As part of the ongoing national instrumentation exercise, the Radiation Protection Agency (RPA) conducted inspections at several construction sites in Leribe District. The inspections focused on the use of nuclear gauges (for moisture and density measurements) and industrial radiography sources, particularly Iridium-192 (Ir-192).

These activities form part of RPA’s mandate to enforce the Radiation Protection Agency Act of 2018, ensuring that all radiation-related operations are safe, compliant, and protective of workers, the public, and the environment.

RPA therefore calls upon all companies and individuals who are in possession of, or who use, any form of nuclear technology to immediately contact the Agency. All such entities are required to:

Declare the radiation sources or devices in their possession, and

Apply for the appropriate licence in order to legally operate.

Failure to comply will result in operations being suspended until full regulatory requirements are met.

For guidance, licensing, or compliance support, please contact the Radiation Protection Agency.
