Radiation Protection Agency (RPA) together with the IAEA team of experts held high-level meetings with ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ ๐ถ๐ป๐ถ๐๐๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐ป๐๐ถ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ป๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐๐ฟ๐, ๐๐ผ๐ป. ๐๐ฒ๐๐๐ฒ๐บ๐ฎ ๐๐ฑ๐ผ๐ป๐๐๐ถ, under whose Ministry the RPA operates as an autonomous body. The discussions focused on ensuring continued strategic support for the Agency. The team also met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations ๐๐ผ๐ป. ๐๐ฒ๐ท๐ผ๐ป๐ฒ ๐ ๐ฝ๐ผ๐๐ท๐ผ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฒ whose Ministry plays a key role in facilitating international cooperation in nuclear and radiation safety matters.
Today, the RPA and experts conducted an Inspection visit at Maseru Regional Hospital, one of the key facilities using radiation for medical purposes. Later, the team had the honour to meet the ๐ฅ๐ถ๐ด๐ต๐ ๐๐ผ๐ป๐ผ๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ฏ๐น๐ฒ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ถ๐บ๐ฒ ๐ ๐ถ๐ป๐ถ๐๐๐ฒ๐ฟ, ๐๐ผ๐ป. ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐บ๐๐ฒ๐น ๐ก๐๐๐ผ๐ธ๐ผ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฒ ๐ ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐ธ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฒ, who reaffirmed Governmentโs full support and commitment to ensuring that the RPA is well-resourced to effectively carry out its mandate as established by the Radiation Protection Agency Act, 2018.

The meeting will focus on strengthening collaboration and building a robust regulatory framework, particularly as Lesotho explores potential future developments in nuclear energy.
